Self-empowerment is the key to living out who you really are and what you deeply desire. Stepping into your most empowered self will ensure that you live authentically and create a life that truly serves you.
I personally lived too much of my life feeling disempowered. Before I really dove into my self-development journey, I was disconnected from my true self, I didn’t know what I wanted in life, and I lived in so much resistance to myself.
I was a people pleaser, I did what I thought I “should” do and what I believed others expected of me, and I worried a lot about what other people thought of me. My inner critic was very loud and I based my self-worth on my productivity, achievements, and the external validation I received. I couldn’t come to terms with my anxiety and depression, and I believed my sensitivity and emotional nature would prevent me from living a life that felt good to me.
I lived as a disempowered version of myself without even realizing it. All of this eventually led me to experience the most painful inner struggle of my life after I graduated from university.
Without the education system to define me as it had for my whole life, I suddenly realized I didn’t even know who I was or what I wanted. My days felt like they lacked meaning, fulfillment, and purpose. I was literally living as a shell of a human.
After a year and a half of that, I knew I needed to make a change. I immersed myself in my self-development and I eventually learned how to step into my self-empowerment. And now, my mission in life is to help others do the same.
My purpose comes from a very personal place, because I know how it feels to live disempowered. I know what it’s like to feel disconnected from yourself and unsatisfied in life. I know the pain of not knowing who you are and living a life that isn’t truly serving you.
I also know how freeing it is to release from that kind of life and receive a more authentic way of being. I know the power there is in journeying deeper into the world within you so you can rise as your most empowered self.

Self-empowerment is the act of taking your life into your own hands and making choices that align with your authentic self.

When you’re self-empowered, you’re confident in your strengths and weaknesses, you know what you believe in, and you make positive decisions based on what you want from life.
I like to think of self-empowerment as knowing who you are and what you want, and living in alignment with that. It sounds simple, but it requires establishing a deep commitment to yourself and a strong dedication to discovering how to live life on your terms.
The impact of becoming self-empowered is so transformative and truly magical. An empowered life isn’t a perfect life, but it is one that is intimately connected to your most authentic self so you can live your days with much more meaning, fulfillment, and purpose.
Everyone has the ability to live from a place of true self-empowerment. This is so possible for you. All you need to do is awaken what is already within.

1. Discover more about who you are and what you want through self-reflection.
Self-empowerment is the beautiful flower that grows from the seed of self-discovery. It comes from a place of deeply knowing yourself and being aware of who you are and what you want.
Self-reflection practices like journaling and meditation will help you discover more about yourself, and this in turn will allow you to create your most authentic life. Find ways to tune into yourself and explore the world within you.

2. Connect with and nurture a true sense of self-love.
If you’re very critical of yourself and you don’t like who you are, you simply can’t be empowered. Self-empowerment has roots in deep, meaningful, and unapologetic love for everything you are and everything you are not.
Do what feels right for you to spark self-love. Accept all parts of who you are, including your flaws, imperfections, and struggles. Allow yourself to be as you are, and love yourself for it.

3. Know and work towards your goals and desires.
An empowered life is one that is driven by authentically aligned goals and desires. They can be small everyday goals or big life-changing desires.
Whatever you’re striving for matters. These goals and desires will help you get off of autopilot and create a life that excites you. And remember, it’s not so much about the destination, but about the journey you take to get there.
4. Hold space for your fears and limiting beliefs.
We all must face fears and limiting beliefs in our lives. It’s normal, and it does not make you weak or unworthy. The most beautiful possibilities can come from the strongest of fears and the loudest of limiting beliefs.
Be willing to hold space for these disruptive thoughts and emotions, and find the courage to explore and move through them. Believe in yourself. You are always more capable than you think you are. Those fears and limiting beliefs are temporary, and they will never define you.

5. Care for your emotional and mental well-being.
One of the most powerful acts of self-empowerment is knowing how to care for your inner world. What does that look like to you? What works best for you when your emotional and mental well-being need some love?
Your emotional and mental well-being plays an integral role in your daily life. Tending to your inner world will ensure that you show up as your most authentic and empowered self in your outer world.

6. Ground yourself and connect with your body.
Just as your emotional and mental well-being need to be cared for, so does your physical well-being. Take some time to get out of your mind and into your body. This could be through exercise, yoga, meditation, or anything else that helps you connect with the home that is your body.
Be fully within yourself, feel your inner strength radiating out from you, and treat your body like the beautiful temple that it is.
7. Create and protect your boundaries.
One of the ultimate acts of self-empowerment is to create and protect your boundaries. It’s incredibly empowering to know your limits and honour them. This may mean saying “no” to others, creating time just for you, and being compassionate with yourself.
Liberate yourself from the expectations of others and pressures in society. Your boundaries are nothing to be ashamed of. They are integral to protecting your mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual energy. Sticking to your boundaries will ensure you effectively care for yourself and live life on your terms.

8. Set strong intentions and live with purpose.
An intentional and purposeful life is an empowered life. Bringing intention into everything you do will lead you towards deep appreciation of yourself and the present moment. And living with purpose will bring meaning and fulfillment into all of your days.
You are capable of more than mindlessly cruising through life. You are worthy of living on your terms. Connecting with your intentions and discovering your soul purpose will make this life much sweeter and will help you truly embody your self-empowerment.
9. Live in alignment with your values, needs, and beliefs.
Your values are intrinsic and come from within you. Your needs are what you require from other people and the world around you. Your beliefs are the strong convictions you hold in life that you know to be true.
Take the time to discover what your values, needs, and beliefs are. They are part of the integral makeup of who you are. Living in alignment with them will help you live as your most authentic and empowered self.

10. Be an assertive communicator and speak your truth.
Assertiveness is the ideal form of communication when it comes to self-empowerment. When you’re assertive, you clearly state your opinions and feelings, and you firmly advocate for your rights and needs without disrespecting others. An assertive person strongly values their time, needs, and energy and is a strong advocate for themselves in a way that is still respectful of others.
Communicating assertively will prove to yourself and others how empowered you really are. It’ll also allow you to speak your truth and express yourself in ways that reflect your authentic self.
I truly believe everyone deserves to live as their most empowered self. Self-empowerment is a human right, and when nurtured enough, it will spark authentic and aligned transformation within yourself and in your life.
Life is too precious to live any other way than exactly how you want to live. Self-empowerment is one of the many keys you can use to unlock the door to your true self, awaken what lies within, and create a meaningful, fulfilling, and purposeful life.
